IBAN and other types of codes are sometimes requested in conjunction with SWIFT Codes
International Bank Account Number (IBAN)
European countries have adopted a standard known as an International Bank Account Number (IBAN).
The SWIFT Bank Identification Code is an internationally-recognized system of codes for identifying banks (see ISO 9362). Institutions send each other messages over the network to confirm trades or to expect a wire transfer as examples. Although BIC is often referred to by bankers as a SWIFT code or SWIFT address, do note that BIC is slightly different from SWIFT§.
