It was created in 1973 supported by 239 banks in 15 countries. If you have need to send money from one bank to another especially for international transfers, a SWIFT code is required. Both must be correct or payment will be rejected.
Both of these will accept and validate AII records in their live production environments but these transaction reports will not be sent to the FSA but will instead be deleted by the ARM.
